Study Identifies Growing Risk of Suicide Among Black Teens      Posted on February 14, 2010    Suicide is an alarming threat for teens who may be dealing with mental issues, such as depression or bipolar disorder. New research suggests that teens in specific demographic groups may be more at risk than others.    Research funded in part by the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), part of the National Institutes of Health, suggests that Black American teens, especially females, could be at a higher risk for attempting suicide, even if they have never been diagnosed with a mental disorder.  The findings of this research were based on responses from adolescent participants in the National Survey of American Life (NSAL).
